Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry
Dr. Sylma Batista earned her medical degree from the Universidad del Caribe, School of Medicine, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
She completed her Psychiatry internship at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson.
Dr. Batista continued her training at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center / New York Medical College, where she completed her residency in General Psychiatry. During this time, she also specialized in Latino Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry.
She also participated in the Comprehensive HIV Center – Mental Health Program at the same institution, gaining additional experience in integrated psychiatric care.
With more than thirteen years of clinical experience, Dr. Batista serves as a member and clinical coordinator of the Association of Psychiatrists of the Bayamón Region.
Today, Dr. Batista is part of the clinical team at Compass Counseling Services, where she provides compassionate and comprehensive psychiatric care for adults and older adults. She is dedicated to supporting each patient with thoughtful evaluation, treatment, and ongoing guidance.
